    Dr. Muzafar Gani Abdul Wahab (a.k.a Dr.Gani) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, Toronto, Canada. He pursued his medical training from Madurai Medical College and completed his postgraduate training in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Manipal University India and did his Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship program, as well as a Master’s program in electronic Health at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada. He was the Program Director for Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program at McMaster University from 2013 to 2018 and Now he is the Program Director for Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography Fellowship Program at McMaster University. He has a passion for education utilizing advanced medical technologies as well as the latest digital technologies for education and clinical practice. He is the founding co-chair of the international POCUSNEO Organization which is primarily an educational organization teaching doctors nurses and allied health professionals on Newborn and Pediatric critical care. Dr. Alvaro’s neonatal professional activities have encompassed education, research, administration and clinical care.     Dr. Ben Fadel has a great interest in studying neonatal hemodynamics. Her main research focus is on the use of TnEcho and point of care ultrasound (POCUS) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She has a great passion for teaching and learning in those areas of neonatal care.

    Dr. Deepak Manhas is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Pediatrics and a clinical neonatologist with the Division of Neonatology. He completed his Pediatric Residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Sub-Specialty at the University of British Columbia and his Masters of Medical Education with Maastricht University. His Masters Thesis was on the use of Telesimulation to provide Outreach Education for Community Hospitals. After his fellowship, he completed his training in Neonatal Resuscitation at the Oregon Health & Science University. He is the Program Director for the UBC Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship program and chairs the Neonatal Resuscitation Committee. He chairs the ACoRN Education Committee for the Canadian Pediatric Society and is a member of the Canadian Pediatric Society’s Fetus and Newborn Committee. He currently chairs the Canadian Neonatal OSCE Committee. His recent work has been improving parental-neonatal bonds and time-sensitive neonatal care with his work with the Neonatal Golden Hour. He is currently evaluating methods of improving Teamwork and Communication in our clinical settings.

    Dr. Amit Mukerji

    Dr. Amit Mukerji, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and is a staff neonatologist at McMaster Children's Hospital. He has a Master of Science degree in clinical epidemiology (2017) from the University of Toronto. His main area of clinical and research expertise is non-invasive respiratory support towards improved lung health outcomes in preterm neonates. He has received an Early Career Award (2019-2021) from Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation to support his research. He formed and chairs the PRVENT-BPD working group at MCH NICU aimed at standardizing practices towards prevention and management of BPD, is the respiratory lead physician for the MCH NICU and is the Canadian national co-chair of the Lung Health Group of the EPIQ (Evidence-Based Practice for Improvement in Quality) initiative.

    Dr. Rangasamy Ramanathan

    Rangasamy Ramanathan is Professor of Pediatrics, Division Chief of Neonatology, and Director of NICU at LAC+USC Medical Center, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. Ramanathan directs one of the largest fellowship programs in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine in the Country, with 18 fellows in the program. He is the Director of NICU and Neonatal Hemodynamics Program.
    Research interests: Surfactant therapy, NIV, Hemodynamics, and Oxygen toxicity.
    Society Membership: AAP, APS, WSPR, and ESPR, Editorial Board of Pediatric Research
    Experience: Dr. Ramanathan is the author of more than 120 peer-reviewed articles published in many leading journals. He has written chapters in several textbooks, including Avery’s Diseases of the Newborn (WB Saunders Co., 2004), and Roger’s Textbook of Pediatric Intensive Care (6th Edition, 2021). He is a member of the editorial boards of Pediatric Research, TRIALS, and the Journal of Pediatrics and Neonatology. He is the recipient of numerous teaching awards from the departments of Pediatrics, and Obstetrics, and is listed in Best Doctors in America each year by his peers since 2005. He was the recipient of David. N. Shaw Physician of the Year Award in 2004 from PIH Good Samaritan Hospital for his medical leadership in the Perinatal Center. This award recognizes physicians for their extraordinary dedication to patient care and compassion for patients and staff. Dr. Ramanathan in 2012 also received “Hero of the Medical Center Award” for his dedicated and innovative leadership of the NICU and the expert care and treatment of the World’s third smallest baby delivered at LAC+USC Medical Center. He received Honor Award from Brazilian Congress of Intensive Care Medicine for his contribution to intensive care in South America in 2015. He designed a simple nasal interface, called, RAM nasal cannula that is used widely across many countries to deliver NIV in neonates. In 2017, he received Life Time Achievement Award from National Neonatology Forum (NNF) during the 37th Annual Conference of NNF for his contribution to neonatal care. In 2021, Dr. Ramanathan was awarded Honorary Membership with Distinction by Colombian Neonatology Association for his exceptionally distinguished contribution to the wellbeing of newborns. He also became the Honorary Member of Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine, Athens, Greece for his contributions to Perinatal medicine in 2022. Dr. Ramanathan is frequently an invited speaker at National and International scientific meetings and conducts workshops on neonatal care around the globe

    BIOGRAPHY: After completing his Pediatrics and Neonatal training in India, he completed his neonatal perinatal fellowship training at UFT in 2006. Between 2007-16 he worked at McMaster as an academic Neonatologist and completed his Master’s in Health Informatics from University of Victoria. His clinical research has focused on Knowledge Translation (KT) and Quality improvement (QI) programs. Specifically, his expertise lies in packaging context–specific, evidence-informed practices, developing decision-making products and, and evaluating large scale- KT programs. He attempts to integrate methods from fields of quality improvement, health informatics, organizational behavior, system performance and clinical research to meet the complex demands of health care translational programs. As Medical Director of a quaternary large NICU at BC Women’s Hospital he supervised execution of multiple strategic initiatives including move to a new hospital, improving workflows and strengthening delivery of care. Currently his focus is on Digital Health evaluation and integration in NICU, as well as redesigning Health care systems.

    Dr. Yogen Singh is a Full Professor of Pediatrics at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, California and he is an Adjunct Clinical Professor, Division of Developmental and Neonatal Medicine at Stanford University.
    Prof. Singh is the Chair for ESPNIC Cardiovascular Dynamics Section and POCUS Working Group. He is passionate about echocardiography and point of care ultrasound (POCUS) training for the neonatal and paediatric intensivists so that they can be widely applied while making clinical decisions in emergency situations. He has led development of the ESPNIC evidence-based POCUS guidelines for use in neonatal and pediatric intensive care unit and “Expert Consensus Statement on Neonatologist Performed Echocardiography (NPE): Training and Accreditation in the UK”. He has published extensively in the peer review journals, especially around neonatologist performed echocardiography, neonatal hemodynamics and neonatal cardiology. He is the Director at ‘Cambridge Paediatric and Neonatal Echocardiography Course’ and TINEC course in Switzerland.
    As the Chair of ESPNIC hemodynamics section, he has led developing ESPNIC hemodynamic monitoring guidelines for the use in neonates and children. He has special interest in neonatal and paediatric hemodynamics and advanced functional echocardiography imaging. He has published extensively in this field and is an Associate Editor, for Frontiers in Pediatrics (Neonatology). He has published over 60 papers and scholarly articles in the peer reviewed journals.

    Dr. Aimann Surak is a staff neonatologist for the Northern Alberta Neonatal Program at Stollery Children’s Hospital and a clinical lecturer in pediatrics at the University of Alberta. His training was in Ontario, Canada where he completed a pediatric residency (London ON), Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship (London ON), Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine departmental fellowship (Toronto ON) and most recently a subspecialty program in Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography and Hemodynamics (Ottawa ON). Dr. Surak’s clinical and research interests are in neonatal hemodynamics, cardiovascular physiology and improving the quality of imaging acquisition.
